For churches

Most churches want to welcome neurodivergent children and are not sure where to start. The Church Side of the app gives your team the training, the tools and a plan.

What your team gets

Three tabs: Training, Buddies and Rooms, and Safety. Here they are on an iPad, with sample data.

The Church Side on an iPad, Training tab: Volunteer Training, Volunteers and Certification, and Volunteer Signup.

Training: six modules, the volunteer roster and sign-up for serving roles.

The Church Side on an iPad, Buddies and Rooms tab: Buddy Board, Quiet Zone Map and Inclusion Events.

Buddies and Rooms: buddy pairings, your quiet rooms and the events you host.

The Church Side on an iPad, Safety tab: Crisis Guide and Churchwide Safety and Inclusion.

Safety: a crisis guide and a four-week series for the whole congregation.

Five steps to a neuro-inclusive church

  1. Train volunteers

Take your team through the six volunteer training modules in the app.

  2. Create a sensory-friendly space

Set up a quiet room with soft seating, weighted blankets and calming tools.

  3. Provide simple accommodations

Offer noise-cancelling headphones, fidget tools, flexible seating and visual schedules.

  4. Support families

Ask parents for their child's sensory profile, and pair children with trained buddy volunteers.

  5. Build a culture of acceptance

Share a short message about neurodiversity, and pray for families and volunteers every week.

From the NeuroInclusive Church Quick Start Guide by Alexis A. Nelson. A spare classroom, a basket of fidget tools and three trained volunteers is a real start.

“The parts of the body that seem weaker are indispensable.”
1 Corinthians 12:22
